iLand6 Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Hiroshi Ezoe; hereinafter “iLand6”) is pleased to announce that a full-scale operation has commenced at Kansai International Airport using the location and load detection sensor developed by Hoopo Systems Ltd. (Headquarters: Israel; CEO: Ittay Hayut; hereinafter “hoopo”), a product distributed by iLand6.
Konoike Transport Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka; Chairman, President & CEO: Tadahiko Konoike; hereinafter “Konoike Transport”) officially launched the real-time tracking of dolly location and load status—used in ground handling operations—within the restricted area of Kansai International Airport starting October 1, 2024.
This initiative was launched by K Ground Service Co., Ltd. (KGS), a member of the KONOIKE Group, in response to operational needs for improved efficiency in locating dollies scattered throughout the airport. In January 2021, KGS began Japan’s first proof-of-concept trial for this purpose. After confirming the sensor’s accuracy and durability, full-scale operation has now officially begun.
By installing hoopo sensors on each dolly, staff can now monitor both the real-time location and load status of every unit. This significantly reduces the time required to search for empty dollies or those scheduled for inspection, thereby improving overall operational efficiency on the ground.
Dollies, which are used to transport passenger baggage and cargo to and from aircraft, play a critical role in ground handling operations.
