    FAQ

Q: Our company has a great medical device. Can you help us sell in Japan?

A: No, we focus our services on a few areas of IT, in order to maintain a professional level. We are not involved in medical, biotechnology, etc.

Q: How is iLand6 differentiated from other business development companies?

A:

  • We support the business development and sales lifecycle, as opposed to some companies who offer mainly introdutions and deal-making.
  • We focus in specific areas of communications and IT.
  • All of our resources are here "in the market". You do not pay for overseas marketing infrastructure

Q: Can you help our company sell to NTT and KDDI?

A:  Yes. But please understand that Japanese carriers will seldom deal directly with a foreign supplier. It is not unusual that you will need iLand6 support + a local distributor to concentrate product support + a major system integrator such as NEC or Fujitsu to sell into NTT or KDDI and support them.

Q: How can I get more information on iLand6 services?

A: Please contact us with background of your company, and we will be glad to provide more information.

Beyond that, we are pleased to schedule audio or video conference, and F2F meeting as appropriate.

Q: Can you help us develop business in Korea and China, as well?

A: No, we concentrate our services in the Japan market.

Q: What is your confidentiality policy?

A: We are meticulous on confidentiality of client's technical and business information. We normally work under NDA with clients or prospective clients.

Q: We are not sure whether to approach Japan market directly or through a local agent?

A: You should normally work through an agent or subsidiary office, because:

  • customers strongly prefer to work in Japanese
  • there are many cultural differences
  • there is high priority on business trust, and cold calls may not be well received

Q: How long does it take to establish first business in Japan?

A:  Every case is different, but generally it takes time. An average case may be:

0                       Start

4 months           Assessment of market feasibility and structure

9-12 months       Sign first channel agreement

18-24 months     Reference customer success

30-36 months     Sales curve turns up

Q: Does iLand raise investments?

A: It's true our name is iLand6 Capital and Development, and during 1997-2003, we had considerable investment advisor activity for pre-IPO clients.
Currently, our focus is on business and sales development. We can assist our clients with funding from Japanese strategic partners or local VC, if relevant.
